Asset Library
The Asset Library is a project-level collection for materials you want to reuse. You can save useful images, videos, or audio from canvas nodes into the library, organize them by category, and add them back to the current canvas or another canvas in the same project.
It is different from generation history. Generation history records past results from a node, while the Asset Library stores selected materials that you choose to keep and reuse.
Open the Asset Library
- Open a project and enter a canvas.
- Find the vertical toolbar on the left side of the canvas.
- Click Asset Library.
The Asset Library panel opens on the left side of the canvas. You can switch categories, create categories, refresh the list, or close the panel from the top area.
Create Categories
Categories help you organize assets by your own working habits.
- Open the Asset Library.
- Enter a category name in the category input field.
- Click Create.
For example, you can create categories such as characters, scenes, references, voice lines, product shots, or any structure that matches your project.
You can also create a new category when adding an asset from a node.
Add an Asset from a Node
When a node is displaying an image, video, or audio result:
- Right-click the node.
- Click Add to Asset Library.
- Enter an asset name.
- Choose an existing category, or switch to New Category and enter a new category name.
- Click Add.
The asset name is required. If no name is entered, DFCine will ask you to enter one before the asset can be created.
After the asset is added, it appears in the selected category. Video assets show a thumbnail and a play indicator.
Preview Assets
Click an asset in the Asset Library to view it.
- Image assets open in the media viewer.
- Video assets can be previewed like video results in the history panel.
- Audio assets can be played from the viewer.
Each asset card also displays its name below the preview, so you can identify saved materials quickly.
Add an Asset Back to the Canvas
You can reuse an asset in two ways.
Drag the asset from the Asset Library onto the canvas. DFCine creates an upload node at the drop position.
You can also right-click an asset and choose Add to Canvas. DFCine creates an upload node in an open area of the canvas. The node name follows the asset name, so an asset named Main Character will create a node using that name instead of a generic upload-node title.
Assets can be reused on different canvases within the same project.
Rename or Move Assets
Right-click an asset to manage it:
- Rename: change the asset name shown in the library and on newly created upload nodes.
- Move Category: move the asset to another category.
- Open Local Folder: open the folder where the saved asset file is stored.
- Remove from Library: remove the asset from the library.
Renaming an asset does not change nodes that were already created from it. It affects the asset card and future nodes created from that asset.
Local Files
When you add an asset to the Asset Library, DFCine copies the file into the current project. This makes the asset portable with the project and avoids depending only on the original source location.
Removing an asset from the library deletes the copied asset file stored inside the project library. It does not delete the original source file that the asset came from.
